Thomason Brothers Closed

by

Deb Thomason

An era has ended, as of May 2007, Thomason Brothers has closed.

Thomason Brothers started in 1952 by brothers Earl and Ed Thomason. The station was under the ESSO logo and then went to EXXON. At the end of the era, it was just Thomason Brothers.  In 1976, Keith Thomason, nephew of Earl and Ed, came onboard. They supported the community in many different ways.  In the day of high school senior trips, the seniors would work at the station pumping gas and washing cars to earn money to help with the trip.

It gave Ed and Earl great satisfaction helping high school kids. Many young men came to work at the station as a co-op program.

When he was able, Earl and Ed’s dad, D.L. Thomason would come in early and open up. Local friends would come over just to hang out. Many world and local issues were discussed and solved (according to the guys) at the station.

Not only did they repair cars at Thomason Brothers but they also delivered home heating oil. Cold in the winter? Call Thomason Brothers! That also came to an end when the station closed.
